Peg princesses

I found some wooden pegs via Etsy and had a fab idea for Lucy's birthday.
Luce has a 'thing' for the Disney princesses (show me an almost 5 year old girl who doesn't!).
The pegs arrived to day and I've already started creating.

As soon as I made these, I received an surprise number of orders, so I now sell a set of 5 princesses for £40 (excluding postage). Each 2 inch princess is hand painted and no two are alike, which makes them completely unique. I am working on Mulan and Brave as we speak, but if you are interested in these or have a request, please email me: sarahyewman@gmail.com

I start by drawing the detail in pencil first.
Using acrylic paint I bring them to life, but try to keep the detail to a minimum.
Snow White was my first princess to attack, as I thought she might be the easiest.
I also made a start on Pocahontas
So with 1 and a half down, I've only another 10 and a half to go before Lucy's birthday in May!
We now have Snow White, Pocahontas, Ariel and Cinderella.

Just deciding who should be next...
I've really enjoyed making these. Albeit, I've had to do it late at night, whilst my princess is fast asleep in bed.

I've kept them as simple as possible, using only a couple of colours where possible.
Just a couple of coats of varnish needed to make them last a little longer and I'll be done.
Mission ALMOST complete!
Sleeping Beauty down, Rapunzel to go, but in the meantime, I added 2 layers of varnish to the others in the hope they may stand up to the 'Lucy Yewman' test.
Finally, they're finished. Rapunzel completes the set (although she's not my favourite by a long shot).
And here's the back view...
The one it all started with, Snow White...
Add bling (aka glitter), et voila!
Now into their box, to be tied in a white ribbon, all ready for the birthday girl in a couple of weeks.

  1. Amazing!! You gave such a steady hand. ^_^
But I have a question....could you show the products you used? I'm a newbie and wanted to make some for my son. But i have had a hard time finding what products are best to use. Thank you in advance.

  2. Hi Renessa, Apologies for the delay in responding! I bought the small girl wooden pegs from Etsy here:

  3. I also used acrylic paint (any brand will work) but I use Liquitex. The varnish I used was just a wood varnish which I picked up from my local craft shop. I hope that helps! Let me know if I can help further.

  4. Hi there. Did you put the glitter on after you had varnished, or did you varnish over the glitter as well???? Thanks. :0

    1. The glitter went on after 3 coats of varnish.
