Wooden Superhero letters

Okay, so I've already covered some basic paper mache letters in vintage comics, but I found some really sturdy, good quality, wooden letters and I couldn't resist.

I could only find an 'S', a 'J' and an 'E' but luckily I have a son named Josh, a good friend's child named Sebb and a gorgeous little lady called Emily, who these will be just great for!

I'm using my faithful vintage comics. So here's what I did for the 'S'...

First find some vintage comics. It's such a shame to cut them up, but they will be able to be appreciated and not stuck in a drawer or on a shelf somewhere.

Cut some strips and make sure you include some interesting detail, including the price, date or speech bubbles.

I use decoupatch glue/varnish for a glossy finish. 

 Carefully stick pieces of the comic onto the wooden letter with a brush.

Ensure you cover all of the letter. 

Layer at least twice to make sure you don't miss any little areas of uncovered letter.

To ensure a smooth finish, cut small 'V' shapes around the corners of the letter. Then re-cover with more comic strips. It will make the paper lay flat rather than 'creasing / bunching up'.

I'm really pleased with it, I hope Sebby is too, he is one of my toughest critics!
